Terms of Service

Last updated August 2026

Vanity is a sublet-listing and messaging platform for interns and new grads doing internships in NYC. By creating an account or using Vanity, you agree to these terms.

What Vanity is (and isn't)

Vanity helps renters and hosts find and message each other about sublets. We are not a party to any sublease or rental agreement, not a real estate broker, and we do not currently process rent payments or hold funds in escrow. Any agreement to sublet, and any exchange of money, is strictly between the renter and host.

Your responsibility to sublet legally

If you're listing a place to sublet, you're responsible for confirming you actually have the right to do so — including any consent required from your landlord or lease terms. Vanity does not verify this, and listing a sublet you're not entitled to offer is a violation of these terms.

Verification is limited

Accounts are verified only to the extent of confirming your email address and its domain (e.g. showing "verified @company.com"). We do not verify government ID, run background checks, or otherwise confirm anyone's real-world identity. Use your own judgment before meeting anyone or agreeing to a sublet.

Acceptable use

Don't use Vanity to post false or misleading listings, harass or discriminate against other users, attempt to bypass the in-app messaging or trust & safety features, or use the platform for anything illegal. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate this.

Content you post

You keep ownership of listing descriptions, photos, and messages you post, but you're responsible for having the right to post them, and you grant Vanity the license needed to display that content within the app.

No warranty

Vanity is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee listings are accurate, that matches will work out, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vanity isn't liable for disputes, losses, or damages arising from a sublet arrangement, interactions between users, or use of the platform.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Continued use of Vanity after a change means you accept the updated terms.
